Sleep On Tower

Who can participate in the Sleep on a Tower experience?

This experience is custom-tailored for anyone with a deep sense of adventure, ranging from ambitious beginners to seasoned climbers. Whether you want to experience the vertical exposure of an engineered cliffside portaledge or stand on top of a 500-foot desert spire, our professionally trained guides customize the movement patterns and climbing routes to perfectly match your physical capabilities and comfort thresholds.

What can I expect during the Sleep on a Tower trip?

Your trip begins with a scenic desert approach hike to the base of the formation. From there, you will climb via a single-pitch or multi-pitch setting to reach your high-altitude camp station—either a flat, sweeping desert tower summit or a technical portaledge suspension system rigged directly to the cliff face. You will enjoy dinner surrounded by unparalleled canyon vistas, spend the night under the stars, and wake up to a stunning sunrise before executing a series of technical rappels back to the canyon floor.

Do I need advanced climbing experience to book this trip?

Not necessarily. While prior outdoor climbing experience is certainly helpful, it is not mandatory, particularly for our cliffside portaledge configurations. Our guiding staff manages all complex rope-handling, technical rigging, and anchor construction, giving you a comprehensive systems briefing so you can navigate the vertical terrain with total confidence.

How do camp logistics, meals, and waste management work on the wall?

Your guide handles the technical placement and structural management of the camp layout. For meals, you will pack lightweight, high-calorie freeze-dried options that are prepared at the station using compact backcountry stoves. For waste management, we follow strict Leave No Trace principles; we provide specialized, sealed waste-disposal bags (WAG bags) that allow for hygienic, low-impact waste packing and removal from the vertical environment.
