Chris Peterson

Chris Peterson grew up in Boulder, Colorado and started exploring the Rocky Mountains from a young age. He studied Adventure Guiding at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia. After this two years of training and traveling in the Canadian mountains he returned to Colorado. Chris began ski patrolling at Loveland Ski Area, field instructing with NOLS and completed the Avalanche Science Program at Colorado Mountain College. Chris has a strong passion for teaching outdoor-based skills and enjoys connecting with students while moving in the mountains. He is keenly aware of highlighting all the teachable moments that the surrounding environment or moment has to offer.

Chris has also just this season gained his AIARE Course Lead Certification. Congragulations Chris!

He spends his summers guiding on Denali, Mt. Rainier, in the North Cascades, and at home in Colorado. In the spring and the fall, he can be found chasing warm-weather rock climbing around the Western US, and will often disappear for days or weeks to explore the large desert rivers of the Southwest and their canyons.
Snow and teaching are still Ben’s favorite things and he hopes to meet you in an Avalanche Course this winter!
