Kilimanjaro. Africa’s tallest mountain and a spectacular summit expedition.
- Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa
Beginner to Advanced
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a great introduction to expedition style mountaineering, with a high summit of 19,341 ft, generally great weather conditions and a relatively easy route to the top. Climb Mount Kilimanjaro with Apex and become immersed in the unique African culture before embarking on a challenging expedition up Africa’s tallest mountain.
While often touted as an easy summit, one must not be fooled by the non-technical nature of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Reaching the summit is a feat of human endurance and care must be taken to avoid altitude sickness. The summit is typically reached in a 5-7 day round-trip effort including stops at huts and scenic spots along the way. Appropriate time is given for the ascent to allow for acclimatization and a safe summit bid. The hallmark feature of climbing Kilimanjaro is the trek through 5 different climatic zones. On the incredibly scenic journey to the summit, you will go from bushland to forested areas, through heathland and into alpine and arctic territory.
An international trip with Apex would not be complete without a taste of the local African culture. The nearby city of Moshi is a great place to explore open air markets, restaurants and coffee shops.
