Anchor construction and anchor evaluation are key components for any rock climber wishing to advance their risk management, and ultimately their skills, on the rock. Apex Mountain School’s professional guides will teach you diverse techniques for building effective anchor systems in a multitude of climbing scenarios that you might face when top roping, lead climbing and multi-pitch climbing.
This course is designed for those with previous climbing experience, looking for specialized instruction in anchor building. Apex’s guides (many with AMGA credentials) share tools for building quality anchor systems.
Topics may include:
- Building anchors with natural and artificial gear
- Top rope anchors
- ERNEST anchor evaluation
- Fixed gear use
- Discussion of rock types and density
- Load forces and fall factors
Apex’s rock climbing anchors course is offered to all ages and fitness levels. No previous anchor building experience is required. A private guide, and all technical rock climbing gear (rock climbing shoes, ropes, helmets, harnesses, etc.) are included.
